Turkey is sustaining its leading position
According to press officer of the travel agency Eglė Grašytė, Turkey has been the most popular holiday destination of Lithuanians for several years. During the high season, on average four planes fly to Turkey every day.
'During the peak season of summer, at least 5-6 planes fly to Turkey every day, and if the demand is high, tour organisers add even extra chartered flights. The second most popular summer destination – Greece, to which 3-4 chartered flights are organised every day, i.e. approximately 14 flights per week. Regular flight airlines also provide flights to Greek islands', said Ms. Grašytė.
The other popular holiday destination has been Spain for many years. One of the recent years' new destinations is Montenegro, which has already earned huge interest of Lithuanians. Countries enjoying rapidly growing popularity includes Malta. According to the representative of the travel agency, this destination is in particular popular among younger travellers and busy people who cannot afford the whole week of holidays and prefer 3-4 days' trips.
Interest in workcation and last minute trips is growing
Recently, trendy workcation, when vacation is combined with remote work and team building activities, is receiving growing interest of Lithuanian businesses. According to Ms. Grašytė, destinations of this type of travel is slightly changing every year, and also depend on the season. In summer, the leading position in this category of holidays is held by Turkey. It is followed by Greece, Montenegro, and Italy. During winter season, companies mainly travel to Egypt, Malta, Tenerife, or Madeira. Workcation duration usually varies from 3 to 7 nights.

This mode of payment is in particular favoured by families. According to Inbank financial technology company, the financed amount chosen by families, if compared to individual travellers, is 25 per cent bigger. Travel financing is most popular among 26-40 year old persons with medium or higher income.
According to the Head of the Lithuanian Branch of the Company Vaidotas Rimeikis, the average financed travel amount is EUR 1 200, while seasonality in this sector is highly distinctive.
'The number of travellers choosing travelling by leasing in summer time increases by 40 per cent, if compared to spring season. In cold season, travel financing is in top demand during school holidays or long weekends. Besides, an interesting observation is that this mode of payment is much more often chosen by females - in some months, they sign even two times more agreements than males.'
